Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks seller-doer engineers who blend office strategy with field/ lab review. You carry a business development target and a technical workload, maintaining client relationships while stamping reports and letters.

You’ll manage a portfolio of clients for materials testing, geotechnical services, and special inspections, pricing and writing proposals, and leading project teams from scope to sign‑off. Travel will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Active PE license in civil, geotechnical or structural engineering, or by comity within 90 days.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
• Proven ability to bring in work or a credible plan to do so in this market.
• Comfort pricing, negotiating, and saying no to bad contracts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on won projects: review field and laboratory data, seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors on projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
