Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC seeks a Municipal Civil Engineer, PE, to lead civil design and project management across Chicagoland. You will oversee municipal right-of-way and land development initiatives, including solar and substations.

Lead cross-functional teams, manage design, permitting, and construction, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance on critical regional infrastructure projects.

Location: Chicagoland or Greater Chicago Area with travel (<25%).

Qualifications

• Active PE license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years civil engineering and project management experience.
• Experience with municipal design and utility infrastructure.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley software.
• Strong written communication and MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct end-to-end municipal, public right-of-way, and land development projects.
• Lead design teams through design, permitting, and construction.
• Develop budgets, bids, and contracts; manage cost and schedule.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality control.
• Build and maintain client relationships; negotiate changes with partners.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of learning.
• Travel as needed (<25%).
