Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead teams of project managers, engineers, designers, and field personnel in the design, modification, and constructability of utility systems.

The role requires a PE license or equivalent experience, with 10+ years in SUE/DOT projects; you will manage risks, budgets, and client contracts while driving program performance.

Based in Chicago-area offices (Illinois) with national reach; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• PE license required or 10+ years SUE/DOT experience may be substituted.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Utility design experience preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Experience leading an engineering design team through all phases.
• Proficient in SharePoint.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience leading and mentoring less experienced staff.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines.
• Familiarity with area agencies, municipalities, and governing jurisdictions.
• Contract negotiation and management expertise.
• Program management and financial oversight capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct teams of PMs, engineers, designers, and field personnel.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Investigate and solve engineering and construction issues.
• Prepare, review, and approve proposals, contracts, and cost estimates.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Negotiate revisions with sub-consultants and clients.
• Oversee program execution across multiple projects.
• Monitor productivity, quality, and financial health.
• Lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with agencies for project approvals.
• Travel as required.
