Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC is seeking a Design Engineer to join a project team focused on designing and modifying utility systems, roadways, and land development projects. You will work with professional engineers, project engineers, and designers to deliver civil, municipal, and utility-scale work.

The role involves utility conflict analysis, ROW coordination, and collaboration with municipal/state agencies. Offices include Chicago, Oak Brook, or Geneva, IL; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 2.5+ years of civil site, roadway, or utility engineering experience.
• EIT certification or PE license is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Own all phases of the design lifecycle from initiation through construction completion and project closeout.
• Coordinate with public works departments, utility companies, and DOTs for ROW, MOT, and utility permits.
• Prepare detailed engineering and construction documents using AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and asset management platforms.
• Assist in reviewing Civil designs and mentor entry-level staff.
