Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and SME to resolve highly complex payroll tax issues across multiple states. You will own SOPs, coach staff, and drive process improvements while ensuring compliance and timely resolutions.

The role supports virtual operations with flexible hours and overtime eligibility. Strong attention to detail and guidance in tax rule applications are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as lead, senior specialist, or SME coaching others.
• Deep knowledge of US tax payment and filing rules across jurisdictions.
• Advanced writing to create/approve SOPs and technical docs.
• Ownership of SLAs and proactive problem solving.
• Experience handling escalations with minimal supervision.
• Experience in contact center or back-office operations.
• Comfort with testing AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, reviewing, and approving SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly structured coaching using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead team huddles, QA sessions, and update performance boards.
• Provide independent oversight of WIP, backlog, and aging reports.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices across states and jurisdictions.
• Approve complex amended federal/state returns with audit trails.
• Identify risks and Known Issues, then communicate with data-driven remedies.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with a risk-informed stance.
