Qualifications

• 4+ years payroll tax experience with focus on complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Lead/senior/SME experience with coaching or training junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of tax regulations across US jurisdictions, incl. PFML/SDI.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.
• Ownership of SLA and red-flag resolution.
• Validation-first mindset with proposed solutions to leadership.
• 5+ years handling sensitive escalations with minimal guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations.
• Comfort with AI tools to improve team workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct quarterly structured coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead or participate in team huddles, QA, and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing changes.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices and IRS/state audits.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks; communicate with data-driven responses.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with risk-informed options.
