Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor for its PTO team. The role focuses on resolving the most complex tax issues across multiple states, authoring SOPs, and coaching staff to build capability.

This is a high-impact, leadership position within SelectTime's virtual expert services environment. The role emphasizes ownership of escalations, compliance, and continuous improvement using AI tooling to streamline processes and reduce risk.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on complex tax defects, notices and multi-state amendments.
• Lead or SME role with coaching or mentoring junior staff through complex resolutions.
• Extensive knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions including local taxes.
• Advanced writing skills to author and review SOPs and technical docs for tax processors.
• Strong ownership of SLAs, identifying red flags and removing workflow bottlenecks.
• Experience handling highly sensitive escalations with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time expert for TP1-TP3 staff, teaching resolution paths.
• Own SOPs and KB articles: author, review, approve.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and stand-ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing needs to M1 manager.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices and audits across states.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks; communicate findings with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings and provide risk-informed alternatives.
