Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to steer critical PTO initiatives. You will own complex tax escalations, govern SOP approvals, and coach the team to build capability. This is a senior, technically-led role in a virtual environment with flexible hours.

You will manage multi-state tax issues, ensure audit trails, and drive continuous improvement while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This position emphasizes ownership, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching or training junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of US tax payment and filing regulations including local and state programs.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using the SBIC model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and stand-up facilitation in manager's absence.
• Maintain oversight of WIP, backlog, and aging reports to inform staffing decisions.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices and IRS/state discrepancies across jurisdictions.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks, communicating findings with data-driven responses.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with a focus on compliance.
