Job Details

We're looking for a Payroll Specialist to own the full payroll cycle for a large, multi-location workforce. You'll sit within the accounting and finance team at the corporate office and be the go-to person for everything from timesheet review to compliance. This is a hands-on role - you're in the weeds processing payroll, not just overseeing it.

What You’ll Do
  • Run end-to-end payroll processing across multiple locations using automated payroll and timekeeping systems
  • Review and verify timesheets, PTO balances, and attendance records before each pay run
  • Process direct deposits, final pays, pay cards, and manual checks per state-specific requirements
  • Handle garnishments, medical support orders, and third-party vendor coordination
  • Enter and maintain employee data in HRIS - tax updates, direct deposit changes, new hires, terms
  • Catch and correct pay discrepancies, retroactive adjustments, and prior-period errors
  • Pull and review payroll reports to confirm accuracy before and after each cycle
  • Keep up with federal and state payroll regulations and flag anything that needs updating
  • Support store and corporate managers with timekeeping questions and training
  • Maintain strict confidentiality across all payroll records
What You Bring
  • 2+ years processing payroll (multi-location or high-volume retail is a plus)
  • Solid working knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Experience with HRIS and automated timekeeping systems
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort navigating the full Microsoft Office suite
  • The kind of attention to detail where a $0.12 variance bothers you
  • Ability to juggle multiple deadlines without dropping anything
  • Clear communicator who can work with employees at every level
Nice to Have
  • FPC or CPP certification
  • Coursework in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
  • Experience with garnishment processing and medical support orders
  • Retail or multi-state payroll background
