Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred (may be required by state/lab guidelines).
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred; required in Louisiana.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately and treats all customers courteously.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Explains venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and calmly to reduce patient anxiety.
• Disposes of biohazard fluids and contaminated sharps according to laws and policies.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, and billing information with high accuracy.
• Matches requisitions to specimens and handles labeling, centrifugation, and storage per protocol.
• Packages specimens for transport and maintains specimen integrity.
