Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician to perform daily patient service activities in the PSC or in-office PST, handling forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing with accuracy and professionalism. The role involves interacting with clients, patients, and PathGroup personnel, while adhering to established practices and procedures.

The position requires strong attention to detail, ability to handle fluctuating patient flow, and adherence to safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred (Required in Louisiana).
• At least 1 year of prior job-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures. Explains venipuncture and other specimen collection clearly and calmly to reduce patient anxiety.
• Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue following applicable laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions accurately in PathConnect and/or other PathGroup computer applications.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information accurately into computer; communicates with clients to verify orders and obtain accurate billing information.
• Matches requisition forms to specimens; labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required.
• Packages specimens for transport and stores samples at required temperatures.
