Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician to support the PSC and in-office PST functions. You will perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established practices and procedures with professional interaction with clients, patients, and PathGroup staff.

The role requires accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to manage fluctuating patient flow in a clinical setting. Compliance with privacy and safety policies is essential.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures and explains venipuncture process to patients.
• Disposes of biohazard fluids and contaminated sharps per laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions in PathConnect and other PathGroup applications.
• Enters patient and billing information into computer systems with high accuracy.
• Matches requisition forms to specimen tubes and handles labeling, centrifuging and freezing as required.
• Packages specimens for transport and maintains proper storage conditions.
• Maintains records and documents, including PSC/IOPST logs and monthly statistics.
