Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician who, under the direction of the area supervisor, performs daily patient service activities in the PSC or in-office PST, interacting with clients, patients and PathGroup personnel in a professional and courteous manner while handling forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing according to established practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures and explains venipuncture and other specimen collection processes in a clear, courteous manner.
• Disposes of biohazard fluids or tissue in accordance with laws, standards or policies.
• Completes requisitions in PathConnect and other PathGroup applications with attention to accuracy.
• Enters patient and billing information into computer systems and verifies orders and test details with clients.
• Matches requisition forms to specimens, labels, centrifuges, and processes specimens as required.
• Packages and stores specimens for transport, maintaining specimen integrity per protocol.
• Maintains required records, logs, and daily PSC/IOPST Patient Services Technician records and monthly statistics.
• Performs basic clerical duties and electronic data entry; approves time and submits expense logs as directed.
