Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician to support the Patient Services Center and in-office PST duties under supervision. You will interact professionally with clients, patients, and staff while performing forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing in line with established procedures.

The role emphasizes accurate data entry, adherence to safety guidelines, and maintenance of records. Expect collaboration across departments and adherence to corporate policies.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens per established procedures; explains venipuncture or other collection clearly and calmly.
• Disposes of blood or biohazard fluids/tissue in accordance with laws, standards, policies.
• Completes requisitions in PathConnect and other PathGroup systems.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information; verifies orders and billing details.
• Matches lab requisitions to specimen tubes; labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes as required.
• Packages specimens for transport; maintains correct temperatures and specimen integrity.
• Maintains daily PSC/IOPST logs and records; assists with monthly statistics.
• Performs basic clerical duties including electronic data entry and timekeeping in attendance software.
• Communicates with supervisor regarding issues; contributes to a positive work environment.
• Ensures facilities are clean and well-maintained; reports repairs as needed.
• Adheres to PPE protocols and lab safety procedures; protects patient information and company data.
