Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Virginia is seeking a Patient Services Representative to be the first line of quality service for patients and the community. You will register patients, verify demographics and insurance, schedule appointments and explain financial options, ensuring accurate medical records and excellent customer service.

You may cover additional physician practices as needed, and will contribute to a smooth patient flow while supporting revenue cycle processes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in patient registration/healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary point of contact between patients and physician practices.
• Provides strong communication and excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
• Answers internal and external calls, routes calls, schedules patients, and enters information for scheduling into the system.
• Processes patients in practice as they present for appointments.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems to maintain patient flow, informs supervisor of issues.
• Processes admission paperwork, verifies insurance, and completes demographic information.
• Records time indicators for lobby wait times and calculates patient liabilities.
• Calculates patient liabilities and actively collects and processes payments.
• Reconciles cash drawer daily.
• Performs charge entry for external services when needed.
• Schedules referrals or follow-ups and assists with MyChart scheduling.
• Assists patients with referrals for follow-up services and records referrals.
