Job summary

Optum in Indianapolis is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support front desk functions, schedule appointments, register patients, and handle cashiering and calls. This role provides essential front office support and contributes to a positive patient experience.

You will greet patients, verify insurance, collect payments, manage records, and coordinate with back-office staff to ensure smooth patient flow in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of telephonic or in-person customer service experience.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional service to all customers.
• Greets patients as they arrive and manages wait time.
• Complete check-in/out tasks including insurance verification and document copies.
• Collect co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issue receipts.
• Manage cashier box and daily deposits according to company policies.
• Process walk-in patients and visitors.
• Answer phones and schedule appointments, verify visit type and provider.
• Answer telephone calls and take messages as needed.
• Maintain and file/scan medical records; prepare for scheduling.
• Ensure waiting room cleanliness and communicate information to patients.
