Job summary

Duke Health — Regional Pediatrics of North Durham is seeking a Patient Service Associate to manage front office duties, greet patients, and support clinical staff at the Durham location.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and HIPAA knowledge. The schedule is weekday daytime hours with occasional weekends; a $2,500 commitment bonus is available for qualifying candidates.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of work experience in directly communicating and providing service to patients or public; preferably in a healthcare related field.
• Experience coordinating multiple tasks or activities.
• Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written instructions.
• Ability to interact courteously with patients, co-workers, and insurance personnel.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
• Handles appointment scheduling and rescheduling in Epic according to guidelines.
• Obtains demographics and insurance information; updates as needed.
• Collects co-pays at check-in and balances at end of day; processes deposits.
• Schedules referrals and scans, faxes forms as required.
• Covers other front office functions; participates in meetings and committees.
