Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician to perform daily patient service activities in the PSC or in-office setting. You will collect specimens, enter data, and assist with patient interactions while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety.

You will work under the direction of the area supervisor, ensuring timely specimen collection and proper processing in accordance with established procedures and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Phlebotomist certification preferred; required in Louisiana.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures and explains the venipuncture process clearly and calmly.
• Disposes of biohazard fluids and contaminated sharps per laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions accurately in PathConnect and other PathGroup applications.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer with high accuracy.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and handles labeling, centrifuging, and freezing as required.
• Packages specimens for transport and maintains specimen integrity during storage and transport.
• Maintains daily records and logs for PSC/IOPST patient services.
• Performs basic clerical duties and electronic data entry.
• Approves time in attendance software by a specified deadline and submits travel logs as directed.
• Communicates with supervisor regarding issues and maintains professional behavior.
