Job summary

PathGroup in Tupelo, MS is seeking a Patient Services Technician to perform daily patient service activities in the PSC or as an In-office PST, handling both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing with professionalism and accuracy.

The role requires interaction with clients, patients, and PathGroup staff, adherence to safety and confidentiality standards, and the ability to manage fluctuating patient flow in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred (may be required based on state and laboratory guidelines).
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred; Required in Louisiana.
• At least 1 year of prior job-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures and explains venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly.
• Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue in accordance with laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions accurately in PathConnect and/or other PathGroup computer applications.
• Enters patient and billing information into computer systems with attention to accuracy.
• Maintains daily records and PSC/IOPST logs.
• Performs electronic data entry and basic clerical duties.
