Job summary

Franciscan Health Lafayette East Campus seeks a Health Unit Coordinator I to provide front-line operational support on the unit and promote quality patient care. You will respond to call lights, greet patients, and coordinate activities with nursing staff and departments, using Epic for patient locations.

Responsibilities include transcribing physician orders, assisting with onboarding, and maintaining effective communication across units to ensure timely, accurate care documentation and service

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year healthcare or related experience preferred.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required within 90 days.
• HUC experience and CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to call lights and direct inquiries to the appropriate party.
• Greet and assist patients, visitors, physicians, students, and staff; coordinate nursing and hospital activities.
• Facilitate communication of patient information within the unit and with other departments; report pertinent information timely.
• Answer multi-line phones and route calls per service standards.
• Provide unit support by assisting with bed assignments and maintaining patient locations in Epic.
• Assist in onboarding and training of new employees to ensure consistent information.
• Transcribe physician orders accurately to ensure timely patient care records.
