Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support across patient care units. You will monitor supplies, answer call lights, and escalate needs to nursing staff while adeptly using the EHR to manage orders.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and experience in a medical setting; EPIC experience is preferred. Flexible day/evening/night shifts and weekend coverage are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and strong keyboarding skills (Windows-based, LAN, intranet/internet use).
• Successful completion of HUC post-secondary program or HUC Certification preferred.
• Minimum of one year working experience in a medical environment preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Working knowledge with EHR systems; EPIC preferred.
• Outstanding customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations; flexible to days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• The HUC provides organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and healthcare team.
• Monitors and orders supplies; answers patient call lights and elevates needs to nursing staff.
• Assists care team with managing orders in the EHR and communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
