Job summary

Baystate Health's Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center in Springfield, MA seeks a Patient Service Representative to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, process co-pays, and schedule visits within HIPAA guidelines. You will be the friendly first point of contact for patients, families, and the care team.

You'll handle reception, registration, insurance checks, payments, and coordinated check-out while supporting a multi-disciplinary care environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6–18 months experience as PSR I/II or 3 years preferred as PSR III.
• Demonstrated customer service, registration, and insurance verification skills.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and basic payment processing.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and gather/verify demographics; check referrals.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations as needed.
• Request, accept, and document co-payments or outstanding balances.
• Schedule new and follow-up appointments per guidelines; coordinate with care team.
• Check-out and prepare/route medical records and referrals; handle calls and messages.
