Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Patient Services Assistant to serve as the front-line contact, handling reception, scheduling and patient registration with kindness and professionalism.

You will verify insurance, collect payments, coordinate with front office and clinicians, uphold HIPAA, and help patients navigate the portal, while contributing to a positive patient experience in a busy practice environment.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing and math skills necessary for patient intake and billing.
• Two years in a medical office or similar setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills for diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and answer calls, addressing needs or concerns promptly.
• Verify and update patient information; check insurance coverage.
• Schedule appointments across multiple providers using PM/EMR systems.
• Register new patients and explain policies, collect portal emails.
• Schedule tests, obtain referrals and authorizations as needed.
• Balance cash drawer and post payments to accounts.
• Maintain patient records and coordinate care with staff and providers.
• Uphold HIPAA and educate patients on privacy and portal usage.
