Job summary

Corewell Health in Grand Rapids is seeking a part-time Patient Access Specialist to assist and educate patients, providers, medical office staff, and Health system staff with accessing services and resolving issues. You will handle inbound/outbound calls, chat, and email while adhering to procedures to support performance indicators and corporate values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred 1 year of relevant experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a concierge and greets patients/visitors.
• Answers practice phone calls, schedules appointments, processes mail and supplies, and handles registration reports.
• Identifies and reminds patients of health maintenance gaps.
• Documents patient calls in the EHR for routing/resolution.
• Performs patient registration and check-in, verifies demographics and insurance information.
• Performs patient check-out and schedules follow-up appointments.
• Maintains patient records and uploads documents into EPIC.
• Performs basic EMR/EHR scanning.
• Participates in safety initiatives and complete required competencies.
