Job summary

Patient First seeks a front-office team member in Virginia to assist patients at the kiosk, register patients, and coordinate billing and insurance questions. You will handle cash, maintain a warm patient experience, and support daily center operations with reliable, friendly service.

The role requires basic typing, strong communication, and the ability to multitask across busy front-desk activities. 18+ and a high school diploma are expected; experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Basic typing skills.
• Minimum one year of clerical experience preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for up to 7 hours at a time.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Excellent visual, verbal, written, and typed communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Willing to work at any center due to staffing issue, center emergency, or a reduction of work.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients using the kiosk prior to registration.
• Escort patients needing emergency assistance to the treatment area for registration and evaluation.
• Respectfully handle physician and nurse requests promptly.
• Explain billing policies, including insurable and non-insurable charges, as needed.
• Register patients expeditiously while delivering excellent customer service.
• Verify patient demographic, health, pharmacy, and insurance information.
• Answer billing and insurance questions; provide itemized statements as requested.
• Refer billing questions to appropriate parties as needed.
• Collect money and issue receipts for visits, diagnostics, and supplies per EMR.
• Discharge patient and process incurred charges.
• Complete cash management duties; count money at end of shift.
• Handle incoming/outgoing correspondence and file/scan documents.
• Complete assigned checklists and Policy Manager tasks.
• Answer calls and relay messages promptly.
• Assist with other duties as directed.
• Demonstrate proficiency with the EMR system.
• Receive, move, and stock ordered supplies.
• Clean front office area and perform maintenance tasks as directed.
• Verify daily end-of-day reports.
• Attend staff meetings as directed.
• Be available to assist as needed (breaks/meals may be interrupted for patient care).
• Operate and maintain medical/office equipment as trained.
• Participate in maintenance tasks when necessary.
• Provide positive, warm, friendly service in all interactions.
• Complete other duties as directed.
