Job summary

Patient First in Hampton, VA is seeking a front desk/registration associate. You will assist patients at the kiosk, escort those needing emergency assistance to the treatment area, and respond to physician and nurse requests with promptness and care.

You will verify demographics and insurance data, explain billing policies, collect payments, and handle cash at shift end while delivering warm, compassionate customer service. Proficiency with the EMR system is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Basic typing skills.
• Minimum one year of clerical experience preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for up to 7 hours at a time.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Excellent verbal, written, and typed communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Willing to work at any center due to staffing issue, center emergency, or a reduction of work.

Responsibilities

• Assisting patients using the kiosk prior to registration.
• Escorting patients to the treatment area for registration and evaluation.
• Handling physician and nurse requests in a timely manner.
• Communicating billing policies and insurable/non-insurable charges as needed.
• Registering patients accurately with excellent customer service.
• Verifying patient demographics, health, pharmacy, and insurance information.
• Completing billing questions and issuing itemized statements as requested.
• Collecting money and issuing receipts for visits and services.
• Completing cash management duties at end of shift.
• Receiving, sending, and distributing correspondence.
• Filing and scanning medical documents and forms.
• Answering incoming calls and distributing messages promptly.
• Maintaining the electronic medical record system proficiency.
• Receiving and stocking supplies; cleaning front office area.
• Attending staff meetings and completing assigned tasks.
