Neighborhood Health Center seeks a patient service representative to support front desk and patient flow at the Northwest office in Buffalo. The role emphasizes kindness, accuracy, and teamwork while handling check-ins, insurance verification, and payments.

Primary duties include confirming appointments, updating patient data, collecting co-pays, and maintaining smooth daily operations across multiple sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to read, write and speak the English language; Spanish is preferred.
• Able to learn new software and computer systems.
• Customer service skills with attention to detail.
• Kindness, resiliency and teamwork valued in daily work.
• Medical office/terminology knowledge is a plus; EHR knowledge preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient information and makes corrections in the computer system.
• Confirms appointment times, locations, and providers during check-in.
• Communicates delays to the front desk lead.
• Assists in ensuring appointments are confirmed.
• Assists in open and closing procedures.
• Prints daily appointment schedules and front desk reports.
• Verifies insurance through epaces, heathenet, healthplex.
• Inputs insurance information including active/expired dates.
• Sends appropriate patient messages.
• Assists patients in filling out forms.
• Collects co-payments including sliding scale nominal fee.
• Adheres to cash handling policy.
