Neighborhood Health Center seeks a patient service representative to support front desk and patient flow at the Northwest office in Buffalo. The role emphasizes kindness, accuracy, and teamwork while handling check-ins, insurance verification, and payments.
Primary duties include confirming appointments, updating patient data, collecting co-pays, and maintaining smooth daily operations across multiple sites as needed.
As a patient service representative, kindness and fairness are key as you use your customer service skills in patient interactions. You’ll collaborate with other team members to help ensure a smooth flow for the day. Responsibilities include:
Verifies patient information and makes corrects in the computer system
Confirms appointment times, locations, and providers during check-in
Communicates delays to the front desk lead
Assists in ensuring appointments are confirmed
Assists in open and closing procedures
Prints daily appointment schedules and front desk reports
Verifies insurance through epaces, heathenet, healthplex
Inputs insurance information including active/expired dates
Sends appropriate patient messages
Assists patients in filling out forms
Collects co-payments including sliding scale nominal fee
Adheres to cash handling policy
You will be primarily based at our Northwest office, 155 Lawn Ave, Buffalo, and will also travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed.

High school diploma or equivalent
Able to read, write and speak the English language. A second language of Spanish is preferred
Able to learn new software and computer systems
Customer service skills, and attention to detail

Medical office experience or medical terminology knowledge preferred but not required
EHR knowledge preferred but not required
Must be available to work any shift Monday-Friday between 7:45 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Compensation: Starting rate $18.50 per hour.
