Job summary

Neighborhood Health Center is seeking a patient service representative to greet patients, check in, verify insurance, schedule appointments, and collect co-pays at our Buffalo area sites.

Based primarily at Blasdell location, you may travel to other Neighborhood sites as needed. A high school diploma is required; English proficiency is essential, Spanish helpful. Starting pay is $18.50 per hour with benefits including medical, dental, life, a 403b match, and PTO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• English proficiency; Spanish preferred.
• Able to learn new software and computer systems.
• Customer service skills and attention to detail.
• Must be available to work any shift Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• Medical office experience or medical terminology knowledge preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient information and update the computer system.
• Confirm appointment times, locations, and providers during check-in.
• Communicate delays to the front desk lead.
• Assist in ensuring appointments are confirmed.
• Assist in opening and closing procedures.
• Print daily appointment schedules and front desk reports.
• Verify insurance through epaces, heathenet, healthplex.
• Input insurance information including active/expired dates.
• Sends appropriate patient messages; assists patients in filling out forms.
• Collects co-payments including sliding scale nominal fee.
• Adheres to cash handling policy.
