Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an Front Desk/Patient Access role in an outpatient unit. You will serve as the primary contact for patients and visitors, ensuring clear communication and excellent customer service.

You will report to the manager with input from physicians, nurses and other health care providers. The position emphasizes courteous interaction, accurate information, and efficient flow of patients through registration, check-in and follow-up scheduling to support timely care

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers; navigate web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with and assists patients, other employees and the general public in a courteous, helpful manner by phone and in person; provides accurate information and directions.
• Takes complete and accurate information from patients/callers; prepares schedules, medical records and other documents; maintains patient confidentiality.
• Performs check in, registration, and verification of demographic and fiscal information; confirms prior authorizations and collects co-payments; directs patients to next service area.
• Monitors patients and visitors to ensure smooth flow; acts as liaison between patient and staff to improve service delivery.
• Processes check out, schedules follow-up appointments and related tests; provides educational materials; enters visit billing tickets.
