Job summary

US Oncology Network is seeking a Scheduler to join our Fort Worth team. This full-time role supports scheduling patient appointments and tests in a busy oncology setting, with Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5pm hours, no weekends or major holidays.

The position offers progression from Level 2 to Sr based on experience and requires strong communication, organization, and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years office experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, scheduling, and/or authorization experience preferred.
• Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.

Responsibilities

• Answers all incoming calls; assesses callers’ needs and directs to appropriate personnel.
• Schedules new patients, patient referrals and returning patients in the computer system.
• Obtains and enters all insurance authorization, and correspondence relating to referrals in EMR.
• Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit.
• Maintains primary scheduling template containing physician meetings and clinic schedule.
• Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
• Demonstrates understanding of patient confidentiality to protect patient and clinic.
• Follows policies and procedures to contribute to front office efficiency.
• May schedule outpatient appointments/tests/surgeries and hospital admissions upon request.
• May communicate with patients about surgeries or tests and prep work needed.
• May be responsible for follow up on pre-operative tests.
• May be responsible for scheduling post-operative follow up appointments.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology for tests and procedures, including coding.
