Job summary

Summit Medical Group in Knoxville, TN, is seeking an Appointment Scheduler to join their Physical Therapy Corporate Office. This full-time, on-site role runs 8:00am–4:30pm, providing front-office support and patient scheduling for the clinic.

The ideal candidate will have excellent phone etiquette, accurately record messages, update patient information, and maintain scheduling systems in line with office policies. One year in a medical office is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• One year of experience in a medical office setting preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Answers incoming phone calls promptly and courteously.
• Directs calls to appropriate areas and/or extensions.
• Records messages with accuracy and conciseness while prompting patients and other callers for pertinent information.
• Answer and screen calls, take messages, and provide appropriate information to phone callers.
• Verifies and updates necessary information in the medical records/database.
• Maintains computerized scheduling and follows office scheduling policies.
• Handles outgoing phone calls as appropriate (appointment confirmations, referral calls, pre-certs, etc.).
• Communicates general clinic information when appropriate.
• Responds to emergency calls according to established procedure and sound judgment.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to corporate compliance.
