You will schedule procedures, secure authorizations, and maintain complete patient records while delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, registering patients, collecting co-pays, and communicating reports to physician offices.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education in medical/healthcare admin.
• 0-2 years of experience in patient registration or front desk.
• Strong customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families to address questions and provide courteous, timely assistance.
• Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs.
• Schedules patient procedures and pre-registers scheduled patients by obtaining accurate demographic information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility using designated applications, captures correct health insurance details, and secures necessary authorizations and verifications for services.
• Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable.
• Communicates operative reports daily to appropriate physician offices.
• Compiles and organizes registration documentation to ensure completion of patient medical records.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles when applicable and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and assists with resolving insurance-related questions.
• Carefully documents on forms if the patient is unable to sign the consent authorization forms, or why a family member signs the forms and has nursing sign off if the patient is unable to sign.
• Places an armband on each patient before the patient leaves the department to ensure proper identification of the patient throughout their stay.
• Answers and returns phone calls, addressing questions with professionalism and courtesy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
