Job summary

The role ensures a smooth registration process by scheduling procedures, securing authorizations, and maintaining complete patient records with excellent customer service. The Registrar will verify insurance eligibility, collect financial estimates, and communicate with physician offices.

Qualifications

• Post secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in a customer service role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families to address questions and provide courteous, timely assistance.
• Regulates schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs.
• Schedules patient procedures and pre-registers scheduled patients by obtaining accurate demographic information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility using designated applications and secures necessary authorizations.
• Collects and records patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable.
• Communicates operative reports daily to appropriate physician offices.
• Compiles and organizes registration documentation for complete patient medical records.
• Collects patient co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists patients with understanding insurance requirements and with insurance questions.
