Job summary

The Portland Clinic in Portland, OR is seeking a Referral Coordinator to process referrals, assist registration and nursing staff, and provide clear instructions to employees, physicians, patients, and insurers. This is a 40-hour, non-exempt, Monday–Friday role in Access Services.

You will manage referrals through workqueues, verify benefits, enter data in the EHR promptly, participate in departmental meetings, and help the team meet monthly goals while maintaining courteous, professional

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in managed care is preferred.
• Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills are essential.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and provide excellent customer service to patients, providers, insurers, and staff.
• Assist registration and nursing staff in need of immediate support.
• Process referrals and verify benefits; enter referrals in EHR promptly.
• Register patients where needed and input billing information.
• Assist in orientation of new staff regarding referrals.
• Attend department meetings and take minutes as necessary.
• Meet monthly department goals and be a cooperative team member.
