Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to perform unit-based reception, clerical, medical records and patient registration tasks. The role requires strong communication with patients, families and staff, and coordination with nursing leadership to manage daily workflows.

The position is part-time with 12-hour shifts. Prior health unit or hospital experience is preferred, along with basic computer skills and English proficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing.
• Preferred: One year of experience in pertinent clinical specialty.

Responsibilities

• Performs unit-based reception, clerical, medical record and patient registration functions.
• Manages the overall unit workflow in concert with the charge RN and/or assistant manager.
• Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers.
• Coordinates all work with the Manager and Charge Nurse and communicates with physicians.
