Job summary

CommuniCare Health Centers (Texas) seeks a Financial Counselor to verify coverage and determine patient out-of-pocket amounts for services. You will update accounts, communicate with multiple departments, and generate reports as needed to support accurate billing and revenue cycle processes.

The role requires extensive insurance verification experience, strong knowledge of ICD/CPT codes, and proficiency with EHR systems. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred to assist diverse patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years' experience in insurance verification of third-party health insurance.
• Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes and medical terminology.
• Experience with computers; MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Electronic Health Record experience required; eCW preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows policy and procedures regarding financial screening, arrangements, and third-party demands. Provides expert guidance on coding, billing, and revenue matters.
• Acts as point of contact for patients regarding payments and financial matters prior to referring to Business Office.
• Verifies benefit coverage including co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance for procedures and estimates.
• Prepares installment agreements and payment plans for past due balances; monitors delinquent accounts.
• Delivers high-quality customer service via phone, email or in person to assist patients with health care needs.
