Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years' experience in insurance verification of third-party health insurance.
• Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes and medical terminology.
• Electronic Health Record experience is required, eCW is preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows policy and procedures regarding financial screening, arrangements, and third-party demands, and supports clinicians on billing matters.
• Serves as point of contact for patients regarding payments and financial questions related to hospital services and prenatal care.
• Verifies benefit coverage including co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance; documents and notes verification details.
• Arranges payment plans for past due balances and monitors delinquent accounts.
• Provides high-quality customer service via phone, email, or in person to assist patients with their health care payments.
• Obtains referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications as needed and provides estimates for procedures.
• Assists training clinical staff on insurance verification and data entry in the manager's absence.
• Completes special projects and reports as needed.
• Reviews daily pre-op, surgery, and outpatient schedules to ensure complete account information.
• Gathers patient demographics required for claims processing.
