Harboroaks is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Financial Counselor to help patients understand their insurance benefits and financial responsibilities in a behavioral health environment.

Responsibilities include verification of insurance, upfront collections, payment arrangements, and maintaining accurate patient financial records. The right candidate will show compassion and emotional intelligence, with 3+ years of healthcare financial counseling experience.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare financial counseling, patient access, billing, or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of Commercial Insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to explain complex insurance and financial information to patients and families.

Responsabilités

  • Verify insurance benefits and audit admission paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and update patient demographic and insurance information in the patient accounting system.
  • Counsel patients and guarantors regarding insurance coverage, benefits, out-of-pocket costs, and payment options.
  • Collect deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and other patient balances.
  • Complete financial assistance applications and verify income and expense documentation.
  • Prepare charity care, administrative adjustment requests, and payment arrangements as needed.
  • Maintain collection, charity, and adjustment logs and review activity with leadership.
  • Analyze account information and take appropriate action to support timely payment and reimbursement.

Financial Counselor

We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Financial Counselor to help patients understand their insurance benefits and financial responsibilities.This roleis responsible forinsurance verification, financial counseling, upfront collections, payment arrangements, andmaintainingaccuratepatient financial records.

The ideal candidate combines strong financial counseling andcollectionsexpertisewith a genuine desire to help others. Because this is a patient-facing role within a behavioral health environment, we are seeking someone whodemonstratescompassion, empathy, patience, and emotional intelligencewhileassistingpatients through challenging situations.Three years of collecting experience isrequiredfor thisrole,five years is preferred.

Pay range from $18.00/hr to $25.00/hr; based upon experience.
