Job summary

CommuniCare Health Centers (Texas) seeks a Financial Counselor to verify insurance coverage, determine out-of-pocket amounts, and manage patient accounts related to surgeries and services. You will communicate with departments, arrange payments, and assist with pre-service estimates and referrals.

The role requires at least five years of insurance verification experience, familiarity with ICD/CPT, and bilingual English/Spanish abilities; EHR proficiency (eCW preferred) is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years' experience in insurance verification of third-party health insurance.
• Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes and medical terminology.
• Experience in using Electronic Health Record systems; eCW preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Verifies coverage and estimates patient responsibility prior to procedures.
• Acts as point of contact for patients regarding payments and financial matters.
• Generates reports and coordinates with departments on billing and authorizations.
• Obtains referrals, authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
• Provides excellent customer service via phone, email or in person.
