Responsibilities

• Calculates and provides patients with personalized estimates of their financial responsibility based on their insurance coverage prior to service.
• Communicates patient liability clearly and accurately while explaining deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments.
• Requests upfront payment toward self-pay amounts and establishes payment arrangements.
• Interviews uninsured patients to assess for qualifying financial needs and coordinates with patient for coverage applications.
• Initiates credit scoring to determine Medicaid and charity care eligibility.
• Collaborates with social workers and outside vendors to maximize funding sources for services.
• Educates patients and physicians about Financial Assistance Policy and related processes.
• Stays current on government funding rules, including Medicare and Medicaid, and HIPAA requirements.
• Works with various care settings including clinics, ED, and ambulatory spaces to assist with funding.
