Ohio State University seeks a Patient Financial Counselor 1 for the East Hospital precert and financial counseling team. Qualificações

• High School diploma or equivalent; 6 months in healthcare setting and/or revenue cycle department or customer service experience OR at least 6 months experience in a financial counseling role.
• At least 6 months experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs with an emphasis in Word and Excel.
• At least 6 months experience utilizing computers and websites.
• Experience with insurance verification/identification, EPIC or other EMR.
• Demonstrates interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to resolve conflicts independently and within team.
• Ability to handle difficult customers in stressful situations, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Self-motivated & dependable. Detail oriented, highly organized and able to perform duties with a high level of accuracy.
• Escalates issues appropriately to upper management.
• Works independently & identifies opportunity for new work when time allows.
• Works collaboratively with others.
• Collects payments and sets up payment arrangements.

Responsabilidades

• Interview and/or review uninsured or underinsured patients daily and obtain third party billing information or establish payment arrangements, financial clearance, including Medicaid, HCAP, or Charity program.
• Verify coverage for Outpatient, Inpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Services and provide financial counseling.
• Make recommendations to customers or family members for various third party financial assistance programs or payment plans.
• The Financial Counselor responsibilities include understanding and verifying coverage and making recommendations for third party financial assistance programs or payment plans.
• Participates in Process Improvement Initiatives/Special Projects.
