Job summary

Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX is seeking a Financial Counselor to review the Financial Clearance Worklist, visit in-house patients, and explain financial responsibilities while coordinating with outside agencies to ensure coverage.

You will provide estimates to patients and physicians, generate insurance verification and precertification reports, assist with payment arrangements, and maintain accurate notes in the HIS system to support patient access and billing operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 1 year of related experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Follow AIDET guidelines in all interactions with the patient.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service.
• Visit uninsured patients in-house with Medicaid Eligibility Staff.
• Provide estimates to patients and physicians; generate insurance verification and precertification reports daily.
• Follow Cash Handling policy and use eligibility systems to determine benefits.
• Assist with payment arrangements and financial applications with Medicaid staff.
• Coordinate employer verification when necessary and escalate concerns to the Patient Access Manager.
• Enter insurance information into the HIS system and maintain notes for encounters.
• Maintain professional image and deliver excellent customer service.
• Complete financial analysis and collect estimated patient liabilities.
