Job summary

North Memorial Health seeks a Financial Advocate to perform comprehensive financial screening, educate patients on insurance benefits and coverage, and arrange payment plans. The role includes obtaining service authorizations, securing payments before discharge, and identifying additional funding sources. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

The position is on-site within a non-contracted work group, with 80 hours per two-week pay period in a day shift.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
• 1–2 years in Patient Financial Advocate or related health care field.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with communicating with insurance carriers for authorization.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform financial screening of patients.
• Educate patients on insurance benefits, levels of coverage, and billing processes.
• Obtain insurance authorization for services.
• Secure payment arrangements prior to discharge and major outpatient services.
• Identify other potential payment sources and initiate Medical Assistance applications.
• Provide costs estimates.
