Qualifications

• Two years of experience in Patient Access, healthcare, insurance, or customer service.
• Ability to explain HIPAA/EMTALA regulations during patient interactions.
• Solid knowledge of how different insurances operate with denials and appeals.

Responsibilities

• Estimate patient financial responsibility prior to service and explain costs.
• Communicate patient liability clearly, including deductibles, coinsurance and copayments.
• Request upfront payments and establish payment plans with patients.
• Interview uninsured patients to assess eligibility for assistance and Medicaid/charity programs.
• Collaborate with social workers and external vendors to maximize funding options.
• Educate patients and providers on Financial Assistance policies and billing processes.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation of conversations and actions.
