Job summary

Summit Health in Livingston, NJ is seeking an experienced Patient Service Representative to support front-desk workflows and ensure smooth patient flow. You will greet patients, verify insurance, collect payments, and coordinate appointments across sister labs in the region.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors, patients, and families in a friendly professional manner and directs them appropriately.
• Maintains an efficient patient flow through the registration process and provides excellent customer service to patients/families.
• Promptly answers the telephone, directs calls appropriately, takes messages, and delivers to the appropriate individual.
• Informs patients of delays, assists with patient comfort during delays.
• Posts self-pay charges, collects payments, provides receipts, and reconciles daily payments.
• Opens/closes batches, reconciles collections, prepares deposits.
• Scans insurance cards, processes verifications, updates patient accounts and HIPAA forms.
• Schedules appointments per department guidelines; confirms future appointments; reviews eligibility and phone reports.
• Schedules orders for diagnostic tests and procedures; follows workflow.
• Works with Patient Care Resources and clinical staff for pre-authorizations.
• Completes referrals per guidelines and enters into systems.
• Communicates problems or concerns to Office Supervisor/Manager promptly.

Education
