Job summary

Summit Health Management in Livingston, NJ is seeking a Patient Service Representative for our Lab division. The full-time role supports patient intake, scheduling, billing, and insurance verification across regional Lab sites, with a Monday–Friday schedule and rotating Saturdays.

You will greet patients, manage registration, verify benefits, schedule diagnostic tests, and assist with pre-authorizations while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced medical office environment.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Previous Patient Service Representative / Medical Receptionist experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must have the ability to organise and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of medical office terminology preferred.
• Basic proficiency in computer use; Windows-based environment known.
• Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors, patients, and families in a friendly professional manner and directs them appropriately.
• Maintains an efficient patient flow through registration and provides excellent customer service.
• Answers the telephone promptly and directs calls; takes messages and delivers them.
• Informs patients of delays and assists with patient comfort.
• Posts self-pay charges, collects payments, and provides receipts; reconciles daily payments.
• Opens/closes batches, reconciles collections, and deposits; documents corrections.
• Scans insurance cards and processes verifications; updates patient accounts.
• Schedules appointments and tests per guidelines; confirms future bookings.
