Job summary

Community Health Center of Groton City is seeking a Patient Service Associate to greet and assist patients, manage the busy phone system, and schedule appointments. You will handle patient demographics, insurance verification, and payments while maintaining strict confidentiality and high service standards.

The role requires bilingual Spanish speakers and an Associates degree in medical office/medical assisting, with strong multitasking and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in medical office or medical assistant required.
• Bilingual skills, Spanish speaking, required.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to multi task.
• Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Healthcare experience in Medical, Dental, or Behavioral Health preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors and callers.
• Oversee the reception area ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable atmosphere.
• Greet patients and assist visitors as appropriate.
• Review schedules daily for accuracy and fill appointment opportunities.
• Schedule and reschedule appointments per CHC guidelines.
• Collect, verify, update and document patient demographics, insurance information and forms.
• Reconcile patient visits daily; verify active insurance coverage.
• Collect patient payments, balances and copays; assist with payment plans/sliding fee applications.
• Complete end of day reporting and ensure records balance.
• Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls; document in EHR per CHC guidelines.
• Ensure forms are completed and scanned into EHR per indexing protocols.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
• Escalate concerns to site leads/Operations Manager and suggest improvements.
• Monitor inventory of office supplies; support manager.
• Meet and exceed individual and departmental goals.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
