Job summary

Community Health Center is seeking a Patient Service Associate to be the first point of contact for patients. You will greet and schedule patients, manage the phone system, verify demographics and insurance, collect payments, and support the care team with data entry and confidentiality.

The role requires 2+ years in patient services or an associated degree, bilingual Spanish skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree, medical office or medical assistant degree or 2+ years’ with directly relevant experience in a patient services role.
  • Bilingual skills, Spanish speaking, Required

  • Problem Solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Healthcare experience in Medical, Dental, or Behavioral Health preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors and callers
  • Oversee the reception area to ensure a safe, efficient and comfortable atmosphere
  • Greet patients and assist visitors as appropriate
  • Review schedules daily to ensure accuracy and fill appointment opportunities
  • Schedule and reschedule appointments according to CHC guidelines
  • Collect, verify, update and document patient demographics and insurance information
  • Reconcile patient visits daily
  • Verify active insurance coverage and status and update information as necessary
  • Collect patient payments, balances and copays
  • Assist patients with payment plans/sliding fee applications and ensure applications are up-to-date
  • Complete end of day reporting and ensure records balance
  • Answer, screen, and direct calls and document in EHR per CHC guidelines
  • Ensure forms are completed and accurate and scanned into EHR
  • Consistently maintain patient confidentiality
  • Escalate concerns to site leads/Operations Manager and offer improvement suggestions
  • Support manager in monitoring inventory of supplies
  • Meet and exceed assigned goals
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
