Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Winchester, MA is seeking a patient services representative for an outpatient unit to deliver excellent customer service and accurate information to patients and visitors. Reports to the manager with input from physicians, nurses and other health care providers.

You will handle check-in, registration, scheduling, and coordination of follow-up appointments while maintaining patient confidentiality and using hospital computer systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; associate’s degree preferred.
• Ability to navigate basic web-based applications and hospital software.
• Strong written and spoken English for patient communication.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients, staff and the public by phone and in person with courtesy and accuracy.
• Obtains and verifies patient information; coordinates with providers and schedules.
• Checks in patients, registers information, and verifies demographics and insurance details.
• Ensures patient confidentiality and handles communications via email, fax or other channels.
• Schedules follow-up appointments and enters visit-related information and payments in the system.
